Storage and Media Center

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

I’m so excited to share this storage and media center we built for the kids’ books, art, and toys.  I wanted it to be a distressed finish, to match the barn wood and flooring of the basement.  It’s not quite done yet, but its getting close! [Read more…]

Sunflower Table

Don’t you love it when your DIY turns out the way you imagined it, the FIRST time??? This was the case for this awesome antique table that has been in Hubs’ family.  I used four different stains to create this flower, and it was SOOOO easy! Really.  And didn’t take long at all.  Probably 2 hours total, start to finish. IMG_0081 [Read more…]

Dresser in Annie Sloane’s Aubusson Blue

This was literally the easiest paint project! This was a dresser that one of our neighbors was going to throw out.  It was an ugly dark stain, but it was solid wood and in perfect condition!! IMG_6541

Weathered Wood Desk with Annie Sloan Paint

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

This sweet little writing desk.  It was so easy to use Annie Sloan’s chalk paint to create this look. The great thing about Annie’s chalk paint is that you don’t need to prep the piece at all.  Just give it a cleaning if it needs it.  This piece was your typical “golden oak” color when I got it on Craigslist for $100.  I didn’t take a “before,” I just knew I wanted to give this an old wood treatment.

Sweet Daughter’s (SD’s) Bedroom

Oh my did I have fun with SD’s bedroom.  She was a little distraught over leaving her room in our last house 3 years ago, so I promised her an extra special little room just for her.  I kinda want this room 🙂 IMG_7774 [Read more…]

Command Center Part 3: Hooks and Bench with basket for shoes

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

I am SOOOOO happy with how this hook and bench area turned out! I struggled with how to collect the shoes, bags, and jackets that seem to inevitably creep in here from our garage mudroom/shoe area.  Once I had the corner command center Part 1 and Part 2 done, I couldn’t let the extra wood go to waste, and had already cut it up into lengths that I thought could be used for shelves somewhere else in the house.  Turns out they were perfect for this wall. IMG_7012

Corner Command Center: Part 1, Upper Cabinets

I honestly can’t believe we have lived here for 3 years before having this command center! It functions so well and I love having the little desk and cubbies for mail and bills. It was pretty easy to make and not very expensive either!

Indian Inlay Stenciled Night Tables

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

This might be my favorite project of all time.  It was so easy with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Clear Wax.  I started out with two beat-up nightstands that I got for $20 each on Craigslist. They were pretty dinged up, but had great wood bones. I just used them as-is for about 2 years before finally deciding to create an Indian Inlay pattern with paint.
