This was literally the easiest paint project! This was a dresser that one of our neighbors was going to throw out. It was an ugly dark stain, but it was solid wood and in perfect condition!!
All I had to do was to give it one coat of Annie Sloane’s Aubusson Blue, and then a coat of Clear Wax. I used cheap paint brushes for both of those processes. After I put on the Aubusson Blue, I gave it a light sanding with a sanding sponge, just in certain places where I wanted the dark stain to come through a bit for a distressed look.
In the picture below, you can’t see the color very well, but it gives an idea of how the sanding affected the paint.
I took the drawers out, and painted just the fronts, then gave them this new hardware, which I think adds a unique touch. Here are some similar drawer pulls. And here are the knobs.

This was so easy. Probably took me 2 hours total. I love it when something actually goes as planned the first time!
