Music Room/Library

This music room has been a long time in the making, and here it is! This room is what sold us on our house.  It has huge windows and a 12′ ceiling (the only one in the house).  It is right off the front entry, and always full of light.  Below you can see hubs’ grandparents’ player piano.  It has a full sound and all of us enjoy playing it.  The “player” part of it doesn’t work, but maybe someday we’ll get that restored. The art above the piano is a print of the ceiling of the Paris opera house by Chagall.  Hubs got it for me the Christmas before we got married.  The rug was something hubs had before we got married–he bought it during his time living and teaching in Bulgaria. I love that we have my guitar, SD’s guitar, and a ukulele for LB all in there 🙂 Makes my heart happy.

Here are the 12′ built-ins and library ladder, both DIYed. This was my vision for this room immediately, but didn’t get built until we had lived here for 2 years. In this photo, you can see another rug that hubs got in Bulgaria, I think. IMG_7117

You can see this wall when you look through the window, approaching the house…a fun collection of the kids’ art, except for the “mother and child” oil painting, hubs got me this when we were pregnant with SD for my first mother’s day. IMG_7260IMG_7261

Here are some pictures I took of the room when we toured it at an open house before we bought it.  It is hard to photograph, because the ceilings are so high.  But you can see the windows!

I love looking up while reading or listening to one of the kids play an instrument and see those shelves just go on forever.IMG_6612

And as for all those books, we actually got rid of 8 boxes before we moved here.  And there are still a few more boxes stored in the basement! We are book hoarders.  IMG_6613IMG_7115

This cozy chair is a little big for the space, and I hope to replace it with a skinny settee once we move these chairs down to the basement (whenever it gets finished.) IMG_5256

Sometimes I am treated to a gymnastics routine or dance show while I sit in here 🙂 IMG_7346
