Sweet Daughter’s (SD’s) Bedroom

Oh my did I have fun with SD’s bedroom.  She was a little distraught over leaving her room in our last house 3 years ago, so I promised her an extra special little room just for her.  I kinda want this room 🙂 IMG_7774 [Read more…]

Master Bedroom

I love our master bedroom.  It is such a peaceful oasis.  The paint colors are so restful and neutral (the wall you see here is Sherwin Williams Sanderling, the other 3 walls are SW Bungalow Beige).IMG_6564

Music Room/Library

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

This music room has been a long time in the making, and here it is! This room is what sold us on our house.  It has huge windows and a 12′ ceiling (the only one in the house).  It is right off the front entry, and always full of light.  Below you can see hubs’ grandparents’ player piano.  It has a full sound and all of us enjoy playing it.  The “player” part of it doesn’t work, but maybe someday we’ll get that restored. The art above the piano is a print of the ceiling of the Paris opera house by Chagall.  Hubs got it for me the Christmas before we got married.  The rug was something hubs had before we got married–he bought it during his time living and teaching in Bulgaria. I love that we have my guitar, SD’s guitar, and a ukulele for LB all in there 🙂 Makes my heart happy.

Command Center Part 3: Hooks and Bench with basket for shoes

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

I am SOOOOO happy with how this hook and bench area turned out! I struggled with how to collect the shoes, bags, and jackets that seem to inevitably creep in here from our garage mudroom/shoe area.  Once I had the corner command center Part 1 and Part 2 done, I couldn’t let the extra wood go to waste, and had already cut it up into lengths that I thought could be used for shelves somewhere else in the house.  Turns out they were perfect for this wall. IMG_7012

Corner Command Center Part 2: Lower Built-In Desk

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

Today I am so excited to share with you how I made the lower built-in desk. It was really easy and fun, only took me about 4 hours total (doesn’t include all of the wait time necessary for staining the wood and painting the base tho!)IMG_7007-4032743084-1516456487541.jpg

Here you can see the “before” pictures as well as a description of how I made the upper cabinet and cubbies.  [Read more…]

Corner Command Center: Part 1, Upper Cabinets

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

I honestly can’t believe we have lived here for 3 years before having this command center! It functions so well and I love having the little desk and cubbies for mail and bills. It was pretty easy to make and not very expensive either!

Indian Inlay Stenciled Night Tables

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

This might be my favorite project of all time.  It was so easy with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Clear Wax.  I started out with two beat-up nightstands that I got for $20 each on Craigslist. They were pretty dinged up, but had great wood bones. I just used them as-is for about 2 years before finally deciding to create an Indian Inlay pattern with paint.

Library Ladder (and hardware) for $175

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.

I LOVE this library ladder–total dream come true for me to climb up and select a book!  I have been thinking and researching how to make this dream happen for a while–all of the hardware and ladders I was finding were super expensive (ladder and hardware for $500 or more???)! I knew there had to be a way to DIY this for less. Once I figured it out, this whole project probably took me about 20 hours of work time or less. (You can see my bookshelf tutorial here.)

Pretty chalk painted chest of drawers

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my full Disclaimer policy here.IMG_7119This was such a simple chalk-paint makeover for a cute chest of drawers! Here was the “before:”IMG_6689

I was in the middle of making over this little corner into an organization station, you can see it was not functioning as anything useful other than to hold my table linens and a few notepads. I had painted it in green with the black drawers for my son’s baby room, and it did look cute in there.  Now it needed something new.  [Read more…]
